International forum on evaluation and social impact measurement

On April 9, 2019, the International Forum “Pour une évaluation à la mesure de l’économie sociale” was held, organized by Territoires innovants en économie sociale et solidaire (TIESS) in collaboration with the Chantier de l’économie sociale, the Conseil québécois de la coopération et de la mutualité (CQCM), the Comité sectoriel de main-d’œuvre de l’économie sociale et de l’action communautaire (CSMO-ESAC), the Centre de recherche sur les innovations sociales (CRISES), the Philab and several social economy sector groups.

More than 160 people were present throughout the day to discuss the issues of evaluation and impact measurement in the social economy. This day came at the end of three years of work by the TIESS on this issue. Several guests, who have participated in similar initiatives elsewhere in Canada or Europe, were present to share their conclusions.

The day ended with the reading of the Montreal Declaration, signed jointly by several social economy groups as well as the Réseau de la finance solidaire et responsable (CAP Finance) and philanthropic foundations. Several groups working in English Canada added their signatures, affirming the importance of working together to define evaluation criteria corresponding to their actions, missions and objectives.
